Fuel Happy: Our Oats are now Organic Gluten-Free
At Granola Girl, every ingredient has to earn its place. Real. Whole.
Oats are the foundation of most of what we make — so it made sense to hold them to the highest standard we could.
Switching to organic, certified gluten-free oats wasn't the cheapest option. It never is. But it's the right one.
Most Granola Girl flavors start with oats. And transparently when I started selling my granola, gluten-free oats was an additional expense I didn’t think I could afford.
But I’ve learned not all oats are the same. So when we decided to upgrade to organic, certified gluten-free oats at Granola Girl, it wasn't just a sourcing change.
It was a statement about what we believe.
What's Wrong with Conventional Oats?
Historically, research found glyphosate, an ingredient found in pesticides, in most oats. In the last few years those levels have been dropping.
Choosing organic means pesticides are not used when farming oats.
If you'd like to learn more about chemicals found in oats, the Environmental Working Group has conducted much of the research and synthesized critical information for consumers.
What Organic Actually Means
Organic oats are grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. No glyphosate. No synthetic chemical residues. No shortcuts at the expense of what's going into your body.
They're grown the way oats were meant to be grown — with care for the soil, the crop, and the people eating it.
Organic certification isn't just a label. It's a verified commitment to a higher standard at every step of the growing process.
This is a small step in the direction we want to head towards a healthier granola.
Why Gluten-Free?
Here's something most people don't know: oats are naturally gluten-free.
The problem is cross-contamination.
Conventional oats are grown, harvested, and processed alongside wheat, barley, and rye. By the time they reach a finished product, they've been exposed to gluten-containing grains at multiple points in the supply chain.
Certified gluten-free oats go through dedicated growing fields, harvesting equipment, and processing facilities — keeping them clean from start to finish.
Many of you over the last few years have expressed the need for certified gluten-free.
So now you can trust all Granola Girl flavors are certified Gluten-free.

Why We Made the Switch
At Granola Girl, every ingredient has to earn its place. Real. Whole.
Oats are the foundation of most of what we make — so it made sense to hold them to the highest standard we could.
Switching to organic, certified gluten-free oats wasn't the cheapest option. But it's the right one.
Because when you reach for Granola Girl before a long hike, after a hard morning, or right in the middle of a busy day — you deserve fuel that's actually working for you.
Nutritional Benefits of Oats
Did you know that oats have protein? In a half cup of the oats we use at Granola Girl, there’s 6g of protein.
Oats are also full of fiber and a wealth of vitamins and minerals, including manganese, phosphorus, copper, vitamin B1 (thiamine), iron, selenium, magnesium, and zinc. They’re also the only dietary source of avenanthramides, a type of antioxidant which may help prevent heart disease.
The Trail Ahead
The oat upgrade is the kind of change that doesn't make a headline.
But it matters.
Because we're not interested in making granola that just tastes good. We want to make granola that actually does good — for your body, your energy, and whatever adventure is next.
Real ingredients. Always.
